Phone # (902) 539-6340 or 1-877-QUILTED email: info@quiltingonthemira.ca ![]() Quilting on the Mira started as a retirement business for me after following my husband, John around during his career in the Armed Forces. John, being a true Caper, naturally wanted to move home after his retirement. This was now my time to do something I have always wanted to do. In July of 2003 I received my business license for Quilting On The Mira, now I was committed. I purchased a longarm qulting machine, used a two bedroom apartment over our garage and started my company. The name seemed a no brainer, in the studio I faced the Mira River when I was quilting so hence Quilting On The Mira. it wasn't long before I started teaching a few classes, became a dealer for sewing machines & started retailing notions & material. In November 2004 I purchased a building and moved the shop to Sydney. Our new location 89 Disco Street. People have asked me why I didn't change the name of the business to reflect the move, today I can say because when I am home I am still quilting on the Mira. In December 2010 we purchased our retirement home on the Mira River & by the time I retire I will have my dream studio overlooking the river. Each day brings new ideas as our business evolves. We provide a warm, friendly atmosphere for people to learn new techniques, meet new friends and be encouraged as the develop their skills. Stop by and visit us, we;d love to see you!! Just in case you don't know the Mira River runs through Cape Breton Island which is off the coast of Atlantic Canada. Cape Breton is a great place to visit and I would love to encourage you to make the trip to visit our Island, you'll be glad you did!! I have placed a picture of our famour Cabot Trail to entice you to visit, don't forget to stop by our shop for John's famous coffee, I hear it's the best on the Island!! Sew waiting for you, Ange Ross Quilting on the Mira 89 Disco St, Sydney, NS Canada B1P 5V7
